【Detection purpose】
Leishmania parasites belong to the genus Leishmania in the family Trypanosomatidae, causing leishmaniasis in humans and various animals, and are an important zoonotic disease. They primarily infect animals such as hoofed mammals, rodents, canids, and humans. The disease progresses slowly with a significant latent period. Clinical symptoms include irregular fever, hepatosplenomegaly, progressive anemia, and elevated plasma globulin levels. Sandflies serve as their vectors. Dogs are important reservoir hosts for Leishmania infantum.
After infection in dogs, there is an incubation period ranging from weeks to months or even over a year. Most infected dogs remain asymptomatic carriers without obvious signs. A minority may exhibit skin lesions characterized by rough, dull coat, hair loss, seborrhea, or scaly flakes. Thickening of the skin can lead to nodules that ulcerate and form ulcers after breaking open. Skin lesions are commonly found on the head, especially around the ears, nose, and eyes, but can also occur elsewhere. In advanced stages of the disease, dogs may experience loss of appetite, weight loss, anemia, lethargy, periorbital inflammation, moderate fever, keratoconjunctivitis, and swollen joints with stiffness. As the disease progresses, affected dogs may develop hoarse or difficult barking and eventually succumb due to cachexia.
Antibodies against Leishmania can be detected in the serum of infected dogs. In the absence of a vaccine, serological testing for Leishmania antibodies is an important diagnostic tool.
【Detection principle】
This product uses fluorescence immunochromatography to quantitatively detect cLSH IgG antibody content in dog blood. Basic principle: there are T and C lines on the nitric acid fiber membrane.
