【Introduction】
Equine influenza virus (EIV) is a constantly evolving viral pathogen that is responsible for yearly outbreaks of respiratory disease in horses termed equine influenza (EI). The clinical disease in horses is an upper respiratory infection of varying severity depending upon the immune status of the individual animal. Clinical signs include the loss of appetite, fever, general weakness, poor performance, harsh dry cough, hyperemia of nasal and conjunctival mucosae, tachycardia, dyspnea, stiffness in legs due to limb edema and muscle soreness, enlarged lymph nodes, serous nasal discharge, which may turn yellowish due to secondary bacterial infection and abortion.
The equine herpesviruses type 1 (EHV-1) and 4 (EHV-4) are ubiquitous pathogens that affect horse populations throughout the world. EHV-1 causes respiratory infection, abortion, neonatal foal mortality, and equine herpesvirus myeloencephalopathy. EHV-4 causes only moderate respiratory infection in foals and horses of less than 2 years old. Clinical signs include pyrexia, anorexia, mandibular lymphadenopathy, dry cough, and serous to mucopurulent nasal discharge. Despite widespread vaccination, EHV-1 and EHV-4 infections remain a permanent risk.
【Intended Use】
This product is used to qualitatively detect the nucleic acid of EIV, EHV-1 and EHV-4 in swab samples. Gene from the host cell DNA is used as an internal control (IC).
【Specification】
• Packing: 1 Test/Pack, 4 Packs/Box
• Specimen: Nasopharyngeal swabs (NP)
• Test Time: From sample preparation to final result < 1.5 hour.
