【Introduction】
Vector-borne diseases (VBDs) are caused by a wide range of infectious agents including viruses, bacteria and parasites, and transmitted by arthropod vectors such as ticks, fleas and mosquito. VBDs can affect both dogs and cats.
Anaplasmosis is caused by Anaplasma spp. which are vector-transmitted obligate intracellular bacteria. Anaplasma phagocytophilum and Anaplasma platys (formerly known as Ehrlichia platys) are the main causative agents.
Babesiosis is caused by haemoprotozoa of the genus Babesia which infect erythrocytes. Babesia spp. are classified as either large forms (e.g., Babesia canis, including B. canis canis, B. canis rossi, and B. canis vogeli) or small forms (e.g., Babesia gibsoni).
Bartonella henselae is the main causative agent of cat-scratch disease in humans. Cats are considered the main reservoirs and the vectors between cats are fleas and their faeces. Most Bartonella spp. infections in cats remain subclinical. In dogs, Bartonella spp. have been associated with endocarditis, myocarditis, hepatitis and rhinitis.
Heartworm disease (dirofilariasis) is a serious and potentially fatal disease caused by a blood-borne parasite known as Dirofilaria immitis. It affects dogs, cats and ferrets, but heartworms also live in other mammal species. At least 70 species of mosquitoes can serve as intermediate hosts.
Ehrlichiosis in dogs is an emerging vector borne rickettsial zoonotic disease of worldwide distribution. In general, three Ehrlichial species (Ehrlichia canis, E. ewingii, and E. chaffeensis) are involved in infecting dogs. Among them, E. canis is the well-known etiological pathogen affecting platelets, monocytes, and granulocytes.
Leishmaniasis is spectral disease caused by protozoan parasites of the genus Leishmania, which can infect both humans and mammals. Leishmania major, L. infantum, L. tropica, and L. donovani are the main causative pathogens of zoonotic cutaneous leishmaniasis, zoonotic visceral leishmaniasis, anthroponotic cutaneous leishmaniasis, and anthroponotic visceral leishmaniasis, respectively.
【Intended Use】
This product is used to qualitatively detect the nucleic acid of Anaplasma spp. (Anap), Babesia spp. (Babe), Bartonella henselae (Bart), Dirofilaria immitis (Dimm), Ehrlichia spp. (Ehrli) and Leishmania spp. (Leish) in blood samples. Gene from the host cell DNA is used as an internal control (IC).
【Specification】
• Packing: 1 Test/Pack, 4 Packs/Box
• Specimen: Anticoagulated whole blood
• Test Time: From sample preparation to final result < 1.5 hour.
