【Detection purpose】
Symmetric dimethylarginine (SDMA) is a byproduct of kidney metabolism and serves as a biomarker for renal function. Its levels in the bloodstream indicate the kidney's functional status. Compared to creatinine testing, SDMA can provide earlier indications of conditions such as acute kidney injury (AKI) and chronic kidney disease (CKD).
【Detection principle】
This product utilizes fluorescence immunoassay to quantitatively detect SDMA levels in canine or feline serum or plasma.
Basic principle: Nitrocellulose membranes are marked with T and C lines. The T line is coated with SDMA antigen a, which binds with antibodies b labeled with fluorescent nanomaterials specific to SDMA immobilized on the membrane. SDMA in the sample first forms a complex with the antibody labeled with nanomaterials b, which then migrates upward through the membrane. This complex competes with SDMA on the T line. When illuminated with excitation light, the nanomaterial emits a fluorescent signal, which inversely correlates with the concentration of antigen in the sample.
