【Introduction】
Leishmaniasis is spectral disease caused by protozoan parasites of the genus Leishmania, which can infect both humans and mammals. Leishmania is a vector-borne, obligate intracellular, protozoan parasite causing cutaneous, mucocutaneous, and visceral disease. Key signs range from localized cutaneous lesions to lymphadenopathy and renal failure for visceral disease.
Leishmaniasis comprises two major diseases, visceral leishmaniasis and cutaneous leishmaniasis, the former of which is fatal if untreated. Leishmania major, L. infantum, L. tropica, and L. donovani are the main causative pathogens of zoonotic cutaneous leishmaniasis (ZCL), zoonotic visceral leishmaniasis (ZVL), anthroponotic cutaneous leishmaniasis (ACL), and anthroponotic visceral leishmaniasis (AVL), respectively.
【Intended Use】
This product is used to qualitatively detect the nucleic acid of Leishmania spp. in lymph nodes, mixed oropharyngeal and conjunctival swabs, whole blood, or lesion skin. Gene from the host cell DNA is used as an internal control (IC).
