【Introduction】
Feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) is one of the most common and consequential infectious diseases of cats around the world. FIV decreases the function of the immune system, leaving the cat vulnerable to many other infections, which allows normally harmless bacteria, viruses, protozoa, and fungi to potentially cause severe illnesses. Shortly after infected, cats may have a fever and enlargement of the lymph nodes (glands). These signs may go away, but cats remain infected, and most cat end up with deterioration in immune function and increased risk of other infections.
Feline leukemia virus (FeLV) is another most common and important infectious diseases of cats worldwide. FeLV adversely affects a cat's body in many ways. Affected cats can develop anemia (a low red blood cell level), cancers, and/or suppression of the immune system. And common bacteria, viruses, protozoa, and fungi that usually do not affect healthy cats can cause severe illness in FeLV-infected cats. These secondary infections are responsible for many of the diseases associated with FeLV.
【Intended Use】
This product is used to qualitatively detect the nucleic acid of Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) and Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) in blood samples. Gene from the host cell DNA is used as an internal control (IC).
