【Introduction】
Feline herpesvirus type 1 (FHV-1) is an alphaherpesvirus that causes feline viral rhinotracheitis, which is responsible for over half of viral upper respiratory diseases in cats and can lead to ocular lesions resulting in loss of sight.
Distinguishing features of FHV-1 infection are high fever and corneal ulcerations. FHV-1 infections may also cause severe symptoms, including pneumonia, gastritis, and necrotizing bronchiolitis accompanied by diffuse fibrinonecrotic bronchopneumonia. It is often fatal to kittens, but adult cats usually survive and exhibit lifelong latency.
【Intended Use】
This product is used to qualitatively detect the nucleic acid of FHV-1 in swab samples collected from the nasopharynx, oropharynx, or conjunctiva of symptomatic cats. Gene from the host cell DNA is used as an internal control (IC).
